What are your thoughts on this Place of Play Expansion in the Big Four Sports?

West to East:

Golden State Warriors also playing in San Diego.
West Coast Clippers also playing in Seattle and/or Las Vegas.

West Coast Athletics playing additionally in Portland and/or Las Vegas
California Angels also playing in Sacramento
Texas Rangers also playing in Austin
New York Yankees also playing in Buffalo?  The Mets?
Florida Marlins also playing in Tampa
The Rays becoming the Southland Rays of Charlotte, Nashville and Monterrey on occasion.

West Coast Raiders of Las Vegas and Portland
Los Angeles Rams are back.
What about the Jaguars as a Southland rebrand playing in Birmingham and/or Louisville?

Southlakes Predator hockey in Atlanta as well as Nashville?
What about...instead of the Panthers, the North Coast Great Lakers in the likes of Cleveland and Milwaukee?
What about the West Coast Coyotes or some such in Portland/Seattle?

Whatcha think?  Any ideas?

Cities like Seattle and Portland are represented by what amounts to more like club teams than minor league hockey, which is absent from these "big hockey towns" of the north.  Las Vegas is that way in the south, and they're looking heavily to land a big time team.
Portland also is lacking minor league baseball.  I wish that there was a helluva West Coast named AHL team housed in previous years with bases in Seattle AND Portland.

Los Angeles Two NFL Teams again. Stadium Setup Much Like Jets/Giants? By 2016.

Teams thought to be on the blocks:
the Rams and Raiders (both old LA teams).
And the Chargers, just south of Los Angeles.

And the Pats owner says that he could see not only a dose soon for the City of Angels, but a double-dose.

Swinging for the fences.  Might as well go big for the return home.  2 teams in every other big league sport.

Bye Bye NHL Miami. New South Bermuda Hockey Triangle. Say Hello to Cleveland and Milwaukee. NHL Expansion

Bye bye Panthers.
I'm leaving that southern name to the NFL and moving your team up north.  Miami beach hockey is unnecessary.  I'm not even sure a tear would be shed.

I got a name for this team to be moved and co-located to Milwaukee and Cleveland.  Well, there are a few to choose from.  I like the "North Shoreman", North Coast Armada, Northland Shores and the Great Lakers.

A mythological triangle of the south I spun at is Tampa, Carolina and Nashville hockey.  That's good enough.  Bye Bye South Beach.  Then there's that other tumbleweed kicking out west in Arizona but there is much more swirling around out there.  And likely we'll see how Las Vegas handles ice in our lifetime.

But anyway, I'm moving your team up north.

And I'm co-locating it in Cleveland and Milwaukee.
And with the upcoming expansions I'm wishing the Toronto Dos squad would be named something more broad in its embrace, like Ontario.
click:  Ontario Gold Stallions/Mustangs/Horseman NHL Expansion Team should be Toronto's team two too

I envision the North Coast Great Lakers and the North Shore Fleet.  Something along those lines  An instant rivalry.

If I'm doing a table top exercise in hockey, does tonsil hockey amount to some experience
Mind you, this still leaves room for Las Vegas, Seattle and Quebec City for expansion.  I just moved the Panthers.  I'm even going to lump in another sure bet in my mind:  Portland.

If it were up to me, Portland, Seattle and Las Vegas would all fall under the umbrella name of West Coast Whales, spending the most time in Seattle and least amount in Vegas.

North Shore Norde Force or Norseman would play in Quebec City and suburban Toronto, Ontario.  And only an expansion of two teams would occur.  The league could play in at least double the places and suitable markets will have already been shored up and breakaways and relocation/co-locations can always shift.  League growth can occur more efficiently and faster with worry of less talent inflation.

An argument for keeping Arizona and Florida beach on ice:  oomanymenonthesite.com/2015/03/17/nhl-relocation-give-panthers-coyotes-chance/

Big Four Sports in France someday

I envision a retractable dome complex, anchored by world football (soccer), somewhere between Paris and Orleans.  This would be a day, likely decades away.

My understanding of the culture is nearer to nil so I am strictly spit-balling on this one for some map-board names:
   Paris Saints Baseball
   Paris Monarchs NBA
   Force de France NFL
   Rebel Roosters NHL

wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_Europe
Note, that American-style football did not occur on any stage in France.
The NFL would very likely land in legacy nations ahead of the French

I see the hockey and basketball occurring around Paris.  The NBA first.
I could see baseball, the word "could" being even more of a stretch, occurring in a baseball-only stadium around Marseille.  I could see MLB France splitting time between Paris.  And the dome of Paris would host the NFL games as well as some soccer.

Even if all of this building were to occur today, worse comes to worse, there are some awesome sports complexes for at least basketball and soccer and concerts, if not just for the citizenry, the rambunctious youth.

The Ball Parks in Germany. Major League Baseball there Someday

Though the largest baseball stadium in the country is in the southeast, a great place for an MLB team could be the Rhine-Ruhr region in the western part of Germany.  The major cities there are numerous, and from Essen to Bonn isn't even 80 miles and approaching 12 million people.

Rhine-Ruhr is Germany's megacity.  Perhaps Essen would be the best place for a baseball stadium?  Being regional, perhaps the best location around the Ruhr would be a balance of entertainment, restaurant and lodging options very near a highway.  Or a vacant spot could be spurred on to propel growth in an area relatively central to everything.
wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhine-Ruhr

If you had 2 spots to play home games for the representative squad for Germany, Berlin would be a great place also.  3.4 million people are there.  1.3 million are in Munich to the south, if one were to consider 3 camps.

I believe there is plenty of love for baseball that is ripe for the Rhine in the coming decades.

Major League Soccer Expansion Announcement Coming Before Summer

Per the commissioner.

Las Vegas folded their deck in a case to mount for a team.  I say that's a shame.  A once-a-week venue could've been more eventful and more sure of a bet for a big league brand.  I have argued that the Chivas should've been replanted in Las Vegas, even if a goat-brand were to split time between L.A. and LV:   The Chivas should've been moved to Las Vegas Part-Time

The cities and state of contention with some soccer fan bated breath:
Sacramento
San Antonio
St. Louis
Minnesota

In December, the MLS announced that groups from Minneapolis, Sacramento and Las Vegas had made      presentations to the league. Since then, Las Vegas has dropped out and San Antonio and St. Louis have put together groups.

The World's Next Truly World Sport is Basketball? NBA Expansion for Europe, China and India

The two most populated nations in the world are ripe for league recognition.  A brand of their own would probably help for a better feeder system to produce the like of Yao and whoever India's All-Star will be.

NBAOverseas with some inter-league play in a decade or so?

As it stands, logistics is the issue.  But with more technological, player and perhaps cultural & political advancements, the gaps will close as time marches on.

New NBA Team for Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Louisville. Tri-State.

A consolidated NBA travel-tag-team representing these 3 cities in 3 different states could be called "Tri-State".  It could even be called "Tri-City".  The league has seen the Kansas City-Omaha Kings on the scene before.  What about the league toe-dipping in the likes of Missouri and Nebraska again with places like Louisville and other big places absent the NBA?  I talk about many combinations throughout my blog posts.  Personally,  I among many feel that Louisville is the most deserved nod for their own team in the east.

But carrying forth with my regional tag team, there's a list of good candidate names of alliteration, rhythm, rhyme and stuff like river connotations or connection for the "Tri-State" brand :

Freight
Saints
Tridents
Truckers
Tycoons  (better names for SA, OKC, Omaha?)
Spartans, Drifters, Pythons, Banshees, Rainmakers, Riverboats, Rivermen, LUMBERJACKS, the 'Jacks
Monarchs, Barons, Trifecta, TOP GUNS, Stampede, Settlers, Skulls, Sentinals, Flights, Troops, Norseman, Sluggers.  And on and on.

What do you think?  Ideas?  Names?
River City Reppers too wild?

Portland the NHL's Bridesmaid. Maybe the Bride. Expansion/Relocation

Las Vegas chatter about getting the NHL:  doesn't that make the people of Oregon cringe?

I bet the league has a fallback (backup) in mind.  Last call would be Portland in the event of a Vegas failure.  And I think they're fine and dandy with that idea to suit their having first footing in the Sin City.  Salt Lake City would reach out and might have a case in such an event.  In the east, I feel Atlanta can be passed on for obvious and recent reasons, although I consider it a better alternative to Miami.  To me, the capital of the south is a part-time hockey town (example articles for tag teams listed below).

In the bigs, Portland is the largest one-team town (under-served market) in sports. (noted: they have two out of the big 5).  Sacramento is in the same ballpark in that regard and I believe they deserve some California Angels lovin'.  But So-Cal is represented enough in the long-term successful San Jose hockey.  I can only think of Austin or Omaha/Lincoln as other deserving areas.  Some folks are okay with the saturation of Kansas City.

Other drifting thoughts in the east are Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Cincinnati.  But the thought of Portland not being the bride and rivalry of Seattle kind of rubs me wrong for the fleeting and luscious town of Las Vegas.

I suppose it isn't a slap enough about the face when it comes to hockey in Phoenix not becoming the West Coast Coyotes of Portland.

NHL Change. Regional Relocation/Co-locations Using the Panthers and Coyotes & the NHL's four team expansion

Hockey in Florida and Arizona can get iffy.
Tampa Bay has froze over with a Stanley Cup championship and it's there to rightfully stay.

I have a much more exponential way to house the 4 team expansion by the NHL:

This is a consolidation of current teams:
Southlakes Fishermen (Florida Panthers, formerly) Atlanta
West Coast Coyotes of Las Vegas, also.  Arizona-Vegas Coyotes?
Hold the thought of Nashville for a bit.

Expansions:

North Coast Great Lakers of Milwaukee and Cleveland
Toronto (Ontario) and Quebec, as slated.
West Coast Whales of Seattle and Portland, Northern Lights?  This could mean time for Anchorage, also.

2011 Atlanta NHL.  Thrashers hockey.
Consider the East Coast Whalers or Whales (of Hartford and Norfolk (with Atlantic City from time to time).

I would simply see it as a shame for Portland to be passed over for more iffy desert hockey.  And seeing it struggle in Miami and around Phoenix is silly to me.  I want the cities where it can work out to have it now, and yes, that probably means a part-time basis for Americans to get on board with the main love of our north neighbors.

In all of the above mentioned, the Predators could become Southlakes with Atlanta, and then a Hartford teamed-up franchise could materialize in an East Coast brand.

In some kind of shuffle, Indianapolis and Cincinnati can be lumped in with the Great Lakes brand, either as a fallback or partial showing as camp.

I still sigh at the prospect of the NHL being absent from Austin in my 6 team (4 expansion, 2 co-location and about a dozen-city) shuffle.  The big leagues are absent there, just like Las Vegas, and Austin seems more deserving of the NHL, at least to me aesthetically.  "Cattlemen" has a ring to it, right?  No matter how ya' dice it, a decision of sort from the league may come in June about a staggered expansion.  And I doubt it will be super innovative or happy news for the likes of Portland.

32 Team Major League Baseball Expansion. And 5 or more MLB Cities

MORE MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL.  Check out two new schemed teams.

                    Portland Blue Socks
                    East Coast Expos

That's running some sox all the way from east to west like the American Flag....red, white... .
The East Coast International Expos play in Charlotte and Montreal (again).

West Coast A's play in Oakland and Las Vegas.  Sometimes Vancouver?
California Angels also stretch out in Sacramento.
Rangers do their deed additionally in the central Texas area.
West, Central, and yep....East..... the Florida Marlins could play in Tampa too so that the Rays can leave.  Charlotte Rays?  Southland Rays?  Though I like my Mexican expansion idea of the Tampa Bay Monterrey Rays also.

Or do you think that Charlotte deserves it's own team over Portland?  We can drop Oakland's touching on Giants turf altogether and lump Portland-Vegas in for the West Coast Athletics.  An older idea of mine is that the Las Vegas-Montreal International Expos could come into play.  (See links below).

Charlotte Blue Socks also has a ring to it.  The Flights?  I've talked about a Southland brand in my blog.
sistemaperalta.wordpress.com
That's a good name, huh?  Southland Brand.   Southland Band sharing time in Nashville with some Blues in New Orleans and Memphis, too.  A traveling band?  Char, Nash and Nolans' is spreading the love as an option against the Braves of Atlantis.

Any good ideas for a name?  Comment and help contribute to my links below:

National Hockey League might Vote on Expansion as early as Summer 2015

 In Las Vegas:
"After the first two weeks of the ticket drive, Foley said 7,350 deposits have been paid with another 300 committed.
The most impressive aspect of that number: The tickets aren't being bought by resorts on the Strip."

Consensus for the next few years leading up to 2020, four teams are being added to the NHL.  That would make the NHL the first 34-team league.
Quebec City and another in the Toronto area seem to be locks.
Seattle and Las Vegas are the other thoughts with a wild card in the hockey hearts and minds of Portland.

Hockey isn't necessarily thriving in the warm confines of Arizona (close to Las Vegas) and Miami, Florida (near a successful former champ Tampa team).  Will Miami (Florida Panthers) and the Atlanta (formerly named Thrash that relocated) teams be failures in the South (east) much like a failure or at least lackluster failure in Arizona and another South (west)?

In my blog, I'm likely to continue to focus on relocating teams like the Coyotes and Panthers.
Right now, the NFL has 32 teams and the other Big 4 leagues have 30, while
MLS is about 20 and growing fast..
