Why I like the Name of Crew

Columbus Crew has alliteration.  It has the baseball'esque naming system.  As a fan of Fußball Cincinnati and their relevant branding update into Major League Soccer, I'm still jealous of my Crew.  It's a cool name.

If it were Austin Crew, I'd be mourning for Columbus and the status of charter teams in the MLS, especially the first one to play ball with an all-soccer stadium in the middle of the state fairgrounds.  Downtowns won't necessarily always be relevant.  But this is a business with a mercenary nature.  Like LeeBraun.

Every team might as well be Cincinnati Mercenaries, Columbus or Austin Mercenaries.  Mercenary New York II.  Mercenary Vegas.

Portland, Vancouver and Montreal with no High Level Baseball

THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND SHOW THEY GENUINELY CARE

No Triple-A team yet ?
They all were AAA once upon a time.  And after Jackie Robinson Royals in Montreal, of course we had the big ball Expos early into this century.

Double-A is more of a geographic issue, so Vancouver and Portland couldn't gun for an upgrade to logistically vie for, those leagues all being Texas and eastward.
Montreal is exposed
They do have A-level teams,.......Montreal has none, whether one says it in French or English.

The Best IN the Best

Who is the best basketball player in the MLB?
Baseball player in the NBA?

MLBs versus NBAs in b-ball.  To watch it play out is the stuff of fantasy, right?
I mean, we won't see it happen.  High dollar contracts and nightmares of at least ankle and hand injuries for anyone involved.  So, it really wouldn't happen as some exhibition.

The two-sport athletes of acclaim in my generation were Bo Jackson and Neon Deion Sanders. Neon did the double spot in Atlanta.  If Jackson was home at Arrowhead too?
mlb.com/cut4/25-years-ago-deion-sanders-played-an-nfl-game-then-flew-to-join-the-braves-playoff

Listening to the waves and heard a Reds pitcher played college baskets, while Billy Hamilton claimed he was second best baller on the team.  Steve Nash of NBA fame had the footwork and fancy free soccer skills.  It'd be interesting to assemble a list of high caliber cross-sporting.

Dave Logan, Dave Winfield (who I knew from my baseball cards), and Mickey McCarty are three people in history who have been drafted in three sports.
An actor, Chuck Connors seems to be an interesting character.

Spoiled spoiled Seattle

The only two cities in the conversation for Northwest American dominance are Seattle and Portland.

But Portland is absent some pretty hefty heapings.  Those fellas don't tout the Big Two.

Seattle though ......ABOUT TO BE ARENA INDOOR BALLIN' !!!!!!!!    PUCKIN' AROUND.

Party party    PARTAYYYYY.  Picture the party.
Out west, Vegas is celebrating two newfound glories, some original Golden Knights, and Raider Nation.  Seattle is going to round out their Top Five crown by landing a double dose of the indoors.

Cincinnati Stinger .....[Missiles] NHL

The Cincinnati Stingers back in the 1970s didn't make the switch into the NHL merger of the WHA.  Oilers, Whalers, Jets and Nordiques did.

When Cinci lands an NHL team, could that - should that be the name?

It might be a little bumble bee lame-o, but it can be with a brand twist.  Show a soldier silhouette with a stinger missile.  A more yellow and cammo in lieu of just yellow and black ?  Screw the Steeler Squealers ?

Yes, give it to me.

Will NHL be first 34 team League ?

We need Nordiques32 again.
Seattle33 looks to be landing the indoor leagues again soon.
And Toronto34 deserves to tout two.
T-town

Will the quality of play be of question with such an abrupt 4 team expansion in so few years?

How much would Americans notice?  What about the Nordes?

The Success of Las Vegas Big League. Golden Knights

They like a dramatic and theatrical opening in Las Vegas, visitors and homegrowns alike.  It is after all Las Vegas.

First year, Stanley Cup Playoffs.  A championship in their initial year is unprecedented in big league sports.  Congrats.

Carolina Atlantics vs. Portland Pacifics

MLB 32

This will have baseball covered for awhile.  As far as I'm concerned, Montreal needs to have a Triple-A team called the Crowns in the International League.  And the Carolina Atlantics (or Southland Atlantics, to somewhat stifle an Atlanta south monopoly).

There will be a need for many o' minor league squads, probably 8-12 teams with this expansion.  And that will need at least 8 "new" cities to call some place home.  I think Vancouver can handle another team (right now it's a short-season-A level team), and they could hold the Trip-A team for the Portland Pacifics.  Vancouver Pacifics or West Coast Pacifics sounds neat.
Bikini's Bar & Grill, N.C.

Nothing to say that the A's could be in Portland (West Coast A's also playing in Vegas), and the Rays can relocate to Charlotte.  The Expos could be reborn with a Trip-A team affiliate of the Tampa Internationals.

What would you do for names?

Is this my Minor League Expansion ?

Thuh' Cincinnati Kickball Jersey

Just sayin'.

I love what you do for me, Toyota.  And all that.  But let's get local yockle up in her'.
It's kind of like Great American Ballpark, "Great American" being a double entendre.   Psssst,.. it's an insurance company.  A lot of people golfing while you're at work.  A lot of people in air conditioning while you are not.  But I admit, at least it sounds as best as possible:  Great American.  It doesn't get more ballpark than that.

But what I'm saying is......... at least be a double entendre.  Be a speedy big boy or some such.

My personal Big Five

Remember the Royals, Stingers and Mighty Ducks ...among many ?
I know the pictured aren't necessarily national reach, but Kroger is.  What about that on FCC jerseys instead of [I love what you do for me] Toyota !  Would Speedway do it?  More to follow...

What are yours?
