If I were a grub hungry agent of the likes of let's say 'LeeBraun James, I'd play an angle with the player's association.
For a billion,
I'd easily be Paul Coca-Cola Stone.
LeeBraun Pepsi James?
Gamecallers have to use it as part of my name,....any mention. The number 23 car. Nope. The number 23 person. Number 23 Coke.
My Team wears Toyota. The 76ers wear Stub Hub. What about the player, play on playuh???

All in a Name. What to Name a Team?
I haven't mentioned Vegas because there seems to be a love for the dollar over the likes of the ambiance for Nordique lands. And so maybe it's about growing the game. But next to Arizona and it's wild west, fewer roots, growing pains. And skipping right over more tradition in Portland and Seattle,...but I'll drink a beer looking like Kermit the Frog.
All the best to them. Hopefully the seats in Vegas doesn't feel like the Rays or even turns out like the Marlins.
Below is a site talking about some recent sportage naming.
But what do you think? I think a good name is something that tips the hat to homage, uniqueness, or aspirations to the area represented. Incorporating one or more of those is a plus. Or I guess something mean and ferocious works.

But wouldn't have the West Coast Coyotes as a shared tag team be better? With anyone? Seattle? Portland? Vegas? Even something shared with Austin really (Western?). I wrote about it.
Yep, Nevada. Anyone with a good clip of time in a dessert knows the drop can sometimes make it feel like Penguins can walk by at night. So, I guess Coyotes are welcome. Um. |

Unless I have a Team in the Bigs, I Could Care Less
And by less, I mean I can care less than I could care more.
For me, as a born Cincinnatian, that refers to the NHL, NBA and MLS.
I liked watching national network games as I was held hostage by the urban Winter. So, I enjoyed Michael Jordan and even stretched my mind, just miles away to Indiana to root on an occassional view of Reggie Miller,... but I didn't set my clock to the NBA at all. Every once in awhile I saw hockey cards at K-Mart I think. Soccer was for kids that weren't good at baseball as far as my world was concerned. Who could afford hockey equipment on a whim back in the day in Cinci?
Even as a Cincinnatian that may periodically desire a bigger broader winner like Ohio State during some droughts, whom OSU I don't really root for, I'm pretty much Cinci or nothing. We're by virtue of being first, baseball royalty always. And Cincinnati is kind of its own state. Our past is one of being at odds with Cleveland. And it was nice that Bearcats basketball was essentially my pro team and went to the Final Four. It felt that way anyway for us and basketball. And having the AHL and ECHL teams at the same time, Mighty Ducks and Cyclones, was nifty too. When homeboys broke out on the scene, I remember seeing some dudes on the west side buy roller skates and the roller pucks with sticks. But I was never watching NHL. I watched more Blades of Steel than NHL. I'm not sure I looked at box scores beyond figuring which province states had teams in the 80s or 90s.
Cities like Atlanta no doubt have some hockey loving leftovers. Who knows when it will return. Like with the bigger pro ball basketball for the likes of Cinci, Pittsburgh, St. Louis or Louisville.
Sure, it's fun watching LeeBraun take on Curry, but it ain't my city. Not sure,...were Raiders fans from Los Angeles rooting for them when they were in Oakland again?
Whatta'ya' got?

MLB Right Now for these Places
Some of these cities could make it feasibly happen in 2020, especially with an unconventional outlook.
Out of these places in the east, which one first?
Montreal?
Charlotte?
New Jersey?
West:
Portland
Las Vegas
The largest city in North America is Mexico City. Ninth is Montreal. Havana is top 10. Monterrey 23rd. Central Texas? California A's in Sacramento and Oakland?
My part-time place idea alleviates concern for lackluster sustainability.
If North Country played in a few Canadian cities and the likes of Portland and Las Vegas split time for a "West Coast" named team, no doubt.
Think of a second team in or around Boston. And 40 to 50 of the East Coast Patriots games were played in Charlotte. Boom.

Future Rivalries in Major League Soccer
Let me jump past the coattails of the above linked writing.
There was an Orange-out in Cincinnati to take on the shitty, ...I mean to say "city" colors of Pittsburgh in a USL matchup with a crowd that beat out many o' MLS games.
Yeah, Cincinnati Pittsburgh in all brands of football.
Cinci and the Crew or against Indy would be something.
Whenever there's Nashville and Charlotte with some Atlanta United (suburbs?).
I've argued those should be the two regional tag team towns combining for an Appalachia United Bootleggers brand.
Austin and San Antonio.
It is said now of Chicago and Minnesota. Revolution versus New York ones?
I assume but don't know Portland and Seattle. Or Vancouver or some such.
Los Angeles and the Quakes? A KC Saint Louey' isn't far off.
There are a lot of cities missing from the momentum. Detroit is one. Is Honolulu ever going to get something? Little Rock Legs sometime? Alabama Bootleggers? I still don't know why two New Yorks but not one New Jersey in name in place.
Yes, MLS has a way to go. But in perspective, it won't take long. Footballs all year long.
