Seattle's AHL team in Portland ?

arenadigest.com/2019seattle-ahl-affiliate-expected-2021-22-season

I'd say it's about time Oregon steps up it pro-hockey game.  The triple-A of hockey would be a fit, wouldn't you say?  I'm not informed about the ice arena situation there, but I know the Trailblazers in big basketball are housed in Portland.

There is a vacancy since the Barons team in Oklahoma City moved over with a name change to Bakersfield, California.   It's more central than west.  OKC was part of a five city abandonment in the American Hockey League.   Those teams made there way for California in NHL Pacific Division territory for the '15-16 season.  Teams in New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Virginia were moved out.  In Canada a team moved from Hamilton to St. Johns after St. Johns became the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg.  There have been relocations and other moving and shaking in AHL.

Anyhoo, in naming an Oregon/Portland AHL team, a name of portability or transferability is the West Coast Coast.  They can move or house themselves in multiple locations, as do the Portland Winterhawks junior minor league squad of the Canadian Hockey League (major juniors) play in two arenas (one that mainly hosts the NBA Blazers).  The West Coast Ghosts could play in two or more towns.

What to name the new Wichita team?:  kansas.com/latest-news/article

If I'm not mistaken, the franchise was the Zephyrs before, also having been Triple-A in Denver previous to New Orleans, before the Rockies expansion for the big show.

What news do you think is on the Expansion/Relocation horizon?

Any more wild cards which seem typical of MLS?

Any announcements of substance will pour out from the NHL?

2018 ProSportsExpansion Blog Year in Review

Atlanta United, the MLS team in its second year of existence, won the Cup.
Las Vegas in the highest of hockey, in its first year of existence, came in second.  Best expansion team in American top sports.

FC Cincinnati landed the MLS expansion bid, before that Nashville, essentially two horses coming out of nowhere.
Sports Gambling is getting bigger and bigger.  And more acceptable with MLB.
Seattle will have hockey again after nearly a hundred years without the NHL, as some people think the league is snubbing Canada and Quebec City.

Columbus will keep the Crew AND Austin will get an expansion bid instead.  Vegas was a first.  Austin's time is coming.

MiLB continues its neat name branding.
G-League is inching closer to a team per NBA franchise, as the North American Premier Basketball League opens up separately.

Since around 2012, Television market money has been more important than gate money.  For Tampa baseball fans, that can be good news,...for Oakland perhaps not so much.
